It’s that time of the year again where runners of all abilities hope to cross the Tyne Bridge and finish line in the Great North Run. Two such individuals include elite runners Abel Kipchumba, who won the title in the men’s championship last year, while Scot Eilish McColgan will be hoping to claim the women’s title for the first time.

Completing the elite field are the wheelchair athletes. Ones to watch across the men's and women's categories are Sean Frame, Simon Lawson, Rafa Botello, Mel Nicholls and Rita Curucca.
