How to watch Game of Thrones season 8 episode 6: Trailer, air times and fan predictions for the finale

Game of Thrones is fast coming to an end with just one episode left of the epic blood and guts-filled fantasy series.

UK fans will find out how HBO's long running TV juggernaut ends and who will finally claim the Iron Throne on Monday.

The series finale is expected to draw in huge viewing figures and will no doubt become a talking point among many, with spoiler images and teaser clips so far revealing very little as to what fans can expect.

With anticipation sky high, we take a look at the Game of Thrones' finale including when it's on, how to watch it and who fans think will win the coveted Iron Throne.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6 Preview

When is Game of Thrones episode 6 finale airing in the UK?

The final episode will air on Monday, May 19 at the rather bleary-eyed hour of 2am on Sky Atlantic.

However if you (unsurprisingly) miss this showing, it also airs on Sky at 9pm on Monday night and will be available to stream on demand from NOW TV.

What clues does the Game of Thrones finale trailer give us about episode 6?

Angry: Tyrion Lannister does not look pleased with Daenerys' decision (HBO)

Not a lot. The teaser trailer, which landed online shortly after episode five aired, gave fans very little to work with. However, it did ramp up the anticipation for what is sure to be a breathtaking and brutal conclusion.

Following Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke)’s shock decision to burn King’s Landing – and thousands of innocent inhabitants – to the ground after the Lannister army’s surrender, the trailer sees a pensive Tyrion Lannister walking through the flaming wreckage of his former home.

Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) looks on as soldiers file past, presumably to assemble for battle, while Daenerys – who now appears to have fulfilled the ‘Mad Queen’ prophecy in her desperation to take the Throne – surveys her army against a backdrop of smoke and flames.

Notably absent from the teaser are the characters who remained behind in Winterfell, including Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and their younger brother Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright).

What Game of Thrones fan predictions have been made about the finale?

Theory: Could Jaime Lannister survive the fire? (Helen Sloan/HBO)

One fan theory postulates Daenerys, having burned King's Landing to the ground in the previous episode, will become the Mad Queen in her bid to sit on the Iron Throne and rule the Seven Kingdoms.

With the Night King defeated and the Lannisters now out of the equation, only a few contenders for the Iron Throne are still standing, meaning that a showdown between Jon Snow (who has the strongest claim) and Daenerys seems inevitable.

Another theory is that Jamie Lannister, who was killed off during the penultimate episode alongside his on-screen sister and lover Cersei, is still alive.

Fans noticed that cast members haven’t paid tribute to Nikolaj Coster-Waldau on social media, suggesting that he could have possibly found his way out of the crumbling mess in King’s Landing.

One Tumblr user kicked off the theory with several points to make her case, including referring to the silence from one of his closest co-stars Gwendoline Christie.

The theory continued by pointing out that a journalist for Entertainment Weekly had exit interviews with cast members as and when they were killed off, but replied to a fan saying that he was “holding” his one with Coster-Waldau.

Whatever happens during the season finale, it's sure to be a showstopper.
