The Atlanta Falcons (1-3) head to Houston to take on the Texans (2-2) on Sunday afternoon. Both teams are hoping to pick up a much needed win in Week 5. With the all-time series tied at 2-2, bragging rights are also on the line. The last time these two teams met was back in 2015 when the Falcons won, 48-21, at home.

Sunday marks the first of two straight road games for the Falcons. Dan Quinn’s team is 1-3 on the year and coming off its second consecutive loss, this one a 24-10 defeat vs. Titans at home. Matt Ryan completed 35 of 53 passes for 397 yards, but the offense was unable to capitalize. Ryan was sacked five times in the game, two of those on fourth-down plays in the second half, while Devonta Freeman was stopped on a fourth and one play in the second quarter. The running game totaled a mere 58 yards, while All-Pro wide receiver Julio Jones was limited to four catches for 52 yards. Austin Hooper led the team with nine catches for 130 yards. This Falcons offense has to find a way to put up points.
Trailing in games has become a consistent theme for the Falcons. They’ve been outscored 65-10 in the first half over their three losses. The defense had no interceptions and no quarterback sacks on Marcus Mariota. Mariota, who was sacked an NFL-leading 17 times coming into the game, threw for three touchdowns and Derrick Henry rushed for 100 yards.
The Texans also look to rebound from a 16-10 against Carolina. Deshaun Watson never found his groove, throwing for 160 yards and adding a rushing touchdown. He was sacked six times. Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson provided a nice 1-2 punch on the ground with 58 and 56 yards, respectively. The Panthers defense held DeAndre Hopkins to five catches for 41 yards. Hopkins also tossed an interception on a trick play. Although he’s off to a rather slow start, don’t tell opposing defenses to relax. There is a reason he’s an All-Pro receiver and one of the best in the NFL. If the Falcons aren’t on their “A” game, he’ll make them pay.
The defense kept Houston in the game vs. Carolina. Quarterback Kyle Allen had 232 yards and did not throw a touchdown pass. The difference maker was Christian McCaffrey, who provided much of their offense, with 93 yards and one touchdown, as well as 10 catches for 86 yards. Three players had over 10 tackles for the Texans, including Zach Cunningham (14 tackles), Benardrick McKinney (12 tackles), and Justin Reid (10 tackles). J.J. Watt totaled six tackles and had one of the three sacks.
