Everton hosts Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park on Sunday with each team hoping to end recent poor runs of form in the Premier League. The Toffees advanced to the Carabao Cup quarterfinals after beating Watford, 2-0, on Tuesday. It marked their second straight home win after defeating West Ham United in the league by the same scoreline a fortnight ago.

The Spurs travel to Liverpool in Week 11 having failed to win in three league outings (one win in five), while Marco Silva’s side has a single victory in its last six league fixtures. Everton has endured a torrid run of form against Tottenham in recent years and last beat the North Londoners in December 2012.
Mauricio Pochettino is unbeaten in 10 meetings with the Merseysiders as Spurs manager, boasting a record of six wins and four draws, each evenly split home and away. His only loss in 13 encounters with Everton came at Goodison Park in Dec. 2013 when he was Southampton chief.
Tottenham sits 11th in the table, but 16th-place Everton could climb one point above its guests if it clinches maximum spoils at home. The Spurs are already eight points outside the top four, and their confidence may have been shaken after dropping the lead to lose, 2-1, at Liverpool last time out.
Ben Davies will be expected to step in at left-back, with Danny Rose suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the recent trip to Anfield. Pochettino has an almost fully fit squad other than that. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will be out until early 2020 after dislocating his elbow, meaning Paulo Gazzaniga will continue as his stand-in. Erik Lamela wasn’t part of the squad that lost on Merseyside and is battling for fitness alongside Ryan Sessegnon.
Gylfi Sigurdsson should return to Silva’s XI after Brazilian Bernard came off in the first half of Everton’s, 3-2, defeat away to Brighton & Hove Albion in Week 10.
Elsewhere, centre-back Yerry Mina was forced off in the first half of the League Cup win over Watford and looks likely to miss out, as will long-term absentee Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
