An acclaimed documentary movie which follows the late Diego Maradona in his Napoli heyday is available to watch for free online.
Released in 2019, Diego Maradona uses previously unseen archive footage and follows the footballer as he joined Napoli from Barcelona and catapulted the southern Italian club to two Serie A titles and a UEFA Cup.
Maradona died at the age of 60 at home in Argentina on Wednesday, November 25. An idol in both his native land and Naples, news of his death led to mass vigils in Argentina and Italy.
The movie captures Maradona in his prime, moving to Italy for a World Record fee. As well as bringing trophies to the Italian club, Maradona gets mixed up with the Mafia, hounded by the press and enjoys a party lifestyle in chaotic 1980s Naples.
English filmmaker Asif Kapadia made the Maradona film following his success directing Amy Winehouse and Aryton Senna documentaries.
After Maradona's death, Kapadia tweeted: "Can't quite believe DM has gone. Hard to process.
"He always seemed indestructible. I had 10 hours with the man!! I touched his left foot. We did our best to show the world the man, the myth, the fighter he was. The greatest."
Kapadia's Maradona movie won critical acclaim. It has a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes and was rated 4/5 by the Guardian.
