How to watch Canadian Grand Prix 2026 F1: Live Stream, Preview, Schedule, Starting Grid after Mercedes front-row lockout

Pole position qualifier George Russell of Great Britain and Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team with his Pirelli Pole Position award during qualifying ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Canada.

Watch the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix live streams to see whether George Russell can close the gap in the drivers' championship to his teammate Kimi Antonelli, who has now won the last three Grands Prix and opened up a healthy 20-point lead in the early stages of the season.

The two Mercedes drivers got into a scrimmage on more than one occasion during Saturday’s sprint race, to the point that Mercedes boss Toto Wolff had to come on the radio and calm Kimi Antonelli down after the 19-year-old felt his teammate had not left him enough room heading into Turn 2.

Kimi finished third in the sprint behind Lando Norris, who, alongside his papaya teammate Oscar Piastri, has shown good pace this weekend. The two McLarens will start Sunday’s race from the second row in third and fourth respectively.

Elsewhere in qualifying, it was refreshing to see Isack Hadjar grab P1 in Q2, several places ahead of teammate Max Verstappen. However, that promise quickly faded as Hadjar eventually dropped to P7, one place behind Verstappen in P6.

Ferrari, who started the season as Mercedes’ biggest rival, have also fallen away, especially since McLaren began fully maximizing their Mercedes power units. Lewis Hamilton qualified fifth, while Charles Leclerc could only manage eighth.

Canadian Grand Prix 2026 preview

The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal will host a sprint weekend for the first time. Unlike Miami, which Russell admitted he is not very fond of, Canada holds plenty of sweet memories for the Briton. He won from pole here last year and finished on the podium in 2024 as well.

Montreal is a shorter but extremely fast track packed with high-speed chicanes – and given how much overtaking we’ve already seen this season – we can certainly expect plenty of action. Elsewhere on the grid, both Mercedes and McLaren have brought fresh upgrades to Canada.

The papaya team made a major performance leap in Miami, securing a double podium alongside a sprint 1-2 finish. Max Verstappen, fresh off his outing at Nürburgring, alongside teammate Isack Hadjar, will also be worth watching following Red Bull Racing’s improvements in Miami.
