It’s a rivalry that dates back to 1899. The No. 12 Baylor Bears will put their unbeaten record on the line against the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday in what could have implications for the Big 12 and the College Football Playoff.

Baylor’s perfect record (8-0, 5-0) survived a close one in a 17-14 win over West Virginia. Even though it was hard to tell by the score, the offense once again carried the load. The Bears had more than double the yards of the Mountaineers, outgaining them 453-219. Quarterback Charlie Brewer went 20 of 26 for 277 yards and two touchdowns passes. However, he was also sacked seven times. When it counted most though, the defense stepped up and didn’t let West Virginia get closer than the Baylor 31-yard-line in its final three possessions, and Bravvion Roy blocked a potential game-tying 48-yard field goal with 3:33 to play.
As for TCU (4-4, 2-3), it took a 34-27 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday due in large part to the defense’s inability to stop the run. TCU gave up 301 rushing yards, including touchdowns of 92 and 62 yards to running back Chubba Hubbard. Amazingly, it was just the fifth time since 2000 that an opponent rushed for 300 or more yards against TCU. While TCU may be unranked, don’t sleep on the Horned Frogs. TCU has won its only game against a ranked opponent this season, beating then-No. 15 Texas, 37-27, at home on Oct. 26.
Baylor has won 10 straight games dating back to last season, which is tied for the second-longest winning streak in school history. It is seeking just its second 9-0 start in school history, but the Horned Frogs are seeking a fifth straight win over the Bears after grinding out a 16-9 road win last year.
