How to watch Bathurst 1000 as bad weather threatens Holden's Mount Panorama farewell

The Bathurst 1000 rolls around again this weekend and it comes with a sad note, as Holden farewells the great race for the final time.

Run across 161 laps, it should be the perfect farewell for Holden, with Shane Van Gisbergen and Garth Tander the favourites to take the chequered flag.

But will the weather rain on Holden's parade?

Here's everything you need to know at the moment.

When is the Bathurst 1000?

There are two practice sessions on Friday, at 10:10am and 1pm AEDT before a qualifying session that starts at 4:15pm.

Practice continues on Saturday at 10:20am and 1pm, before the top 10 shootout at 5:05pm.

The main race gets the green light at 11:15am on Sunday.

How can I watch the Bathurst 1000?

The Seven Network and Fox Sports will be sharing coverage this year, with Fox starting their coverage of the main race at 7:15am AEDT on Sunday, and Seven starting at 7:30am.

If you're looking to stream the Bathurst 1000, Kayo Sports will be running it on their subscription service, while 7Plus will stream it for free.

Viewers outside of Australia and New Zealand will have to subscribe to SuperView to watch the race.

ABC Sport will also be live blogging it right throughout Sunday, with Simon Smale on the tools at abc.net.au/sport.

Is this really Holden's last Bathurst?

Yes, after 53 years Holden really is saying goodbye to the Bathurst 1000.

Commodores will make their final run around Mount Panorama before making way for the GM Camaro to their place next season.

In this race, of the 28 cars on the grid, 19 will be Holden and nine will be Ford.

What's the weather going to be like?

Bad. Bad enough that authorities are worried about the safety of racegoers.

"A lot of people will come to town without accommodation booked and will hope to free-camp by parks," SES spokesman David Rankine said.

"There are going to be some usual campgrounds, where people might throw up a swag or tent, that are going to be inundated with water."

In terms of the race, the worst of the rain is predicted through Saturday and the early hours of Sunday, so if everything is in working order after that deluge, the race should be good to go.

But keep an eye on your weather apps, because it's going to be a wild one.
