Things went from bad to worse for Barcelona following its shocking defeat to Levante when it failed to beat Slavia Prague at home in what should have been an easy Champions League win for one of the tournament favorites. Manager Ernesto Valverde is under immense pressure, and it’s more than safe to say that Barça fans want him gone no matter what happens.
Valverde still has support from his bosses and the players, but even that support is reportedly diminished and patience may run out if the team can’t beat Celta Vigo at home. That would cost them first place in La Liga and make it three games in a row without a victory for perhaps the most talented roster in Europe.
And to make things worse for Valverde, his job is to beat a Celta Vigo team that has had success against Barcelona at Camp Nou in recent seasons and have two former Barça players (Denis Suárez and Rafinha). They would love nothing more than to seek revenge against the manager that didn’t give them minutes and decided to send them away. Celta has lost four in a row and is in the relegation zone, but Barça has struggled against any team regardless of recent form, and another bad result may bring the Valverde era to a sad end.
