Ousmane Dembele is widely considered to be the favourite this year after starring for Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League triumph last season.
Dembele stepped up for PSG after they sold Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid as the French giants finally ended their long quest to conquer Europe.
But Lamine Yamal has enjoyed a stellar year for Barcelona and Mohamed Salah is also among the big names in contention for the award.
Raphinha, Viktor Gyokeres, Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Scott McTominay, Michael Olise, Cole Palmer, Declan Rice and Virgil van Dijk have also been nominated, along with Florian Wirtz, Alexis Mac Allister and Mbappe.
Arsenal and Lionesses star Alessia Russo is in contention for the women’s award after winning the Champions League with the Gunners and then Euro 2025 with England. She is up against Barcelona and Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmati
The best goalkeepers, young players, top scorers and coaches from the 2024-25 season will also be recognised at the ceremony, which is due to start at 7pm GMT.
