How can I watch FIFA World Cup 2026 for free

Every game of the FIFA World Cup 2026 is free-to-air in several countries across the globe:

If you're from one of these countries but are currently abroad and want to watch a FIFA World Cup 2026 live stream, you can simply use a VPN. More details below...

Watch FIFA World Cup 2026 live streams from anywhere

You won't be able to watch your regular FIFA World Cup 2026 live streams while traveling abroad. The streaming service will spot that you're in a foreign country and block you.

You can use a VPN (virtual private network) to get around this, though. It's a straightforward piece of software that sets your device to appear as if it's in a different country, allowing you to watch any World Cup 2026 live stream from anywhere in the world.

We rate Norton VPN as one of the best VPN for streaming sport. It offers a best-in-class 60-day guarantee for all your money back if you're not happy with the service.

Watch FIFA World Cup 2026 live streams in the US

Coverage for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the US is split between FOX (70 matches) and FS1 (34 matches).

If you've cut the cord, you can get these TV channels through a Live TV streaming option, such as YouTube TV (free trial), Hulu+Live TV, Sling (selected cities), Fubo, or DirecTV.

Alternatively, you can tune in via FOX One, which comes with a 3-day free trial, after which it costs $19.99/month.

Furthermore, free streaming service Tubi will be showing the World Cup opening ceremony and two matches – Mexico vs South Africa and USMNT vs Paraguay – completely FREE to US football fans.

To access your usual streaming service from outside the US, you'll need to download a good VPN, as detailed above.

Watch FIFA World Cup 2026 live streams in the UK

Every single one of the 104 matches in FIFA World Cup 2026 is free-to-air in the UK.

The coverage is split between BBC iPlayer and ITVX, and all you need is a valid TV license to stream the matches from anywhere, completely FREE.

Outside the UK during the World Cup? Use Norton VPN to watch the tournament as if you were back at home.

Watch FIFA World Cup 2026 live streams in Australia

Every FIFA World Cup 2026 game will be broadcast for free in Australia, thanks to SBS.

Cord-cutters can catch all the action via the SBS On Demand streaming service and app.

Again, you'll need to use a safe, reliable VPN to access SBS On Demand when traveling abroad.

FIFA World Cup 2026 Preview

European champions Spain are one of the bookmakers' favourites for this World Cup thanks largely to their well-balanced squad, but also their incredible recent form. They won Euro 2024 and have lost just one of their last 28 international matches across all competitions.

They face their biggest competition from France, runners-up at the last World Cup and winners in 2018. France’s story in the last two editions was largely scripted by Kylian Mbappé, but his storyline heading into this year’s World Cup is one he’d be desperate to change and silence a few critics from the Real Madrid fanbase.

Elsewhere, you have five-time winners Brazil and Euro 2024 runners-up England, along with the ageless Lionel Messi and defending champions Argentina, and Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal, who will all be plotting their path to lifting the trophy on July 19.

But a FIFA World Cup isn't just about the top teams and the top players. It's also about the underdogs, especially this time around with the tournament expanded to 48 teams. Lower-ranked nations, who often bring more zest than skill, could certainly spring a few surprises. Perhaps a Morocco-like run from a lesser-known side — Scotland, Norway, Turkey?
