Crafting is a big part of Disney Dreamlight Valley—but thanks to the Wonderland Whimsy update, uncrafting is now just as important to consider when you’re trying to rebuild the Valley.
Below, we’ve listed how to unlock the Uncrafting Station in DDV quickly and easily, going over how to unlock Cheshire as a Villager and which quests to focus on.
How to unlock Uncrafting Station in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The Uncrafting Station is unlocked by welcoming the Cheshire Cat as a Villager in DDV and raising your Friendship level with him to seven. Once this is done, you can pick up the quest called The Uncrafting Station from him to get your hands on the new work station.
Introducing the Cheshire Cat to the Valley can take some time. You need to complete the quest Cat Tree Catastrophe, which is a time-gated quest that was first introduced in the Cheshire Chaos event. To access this quest, you’ll need to:
- Unlock the Wonderland Realm on the Castle’s top floor by spending 15,000 Dreamlight
-
Welcome Alice to the Valley as a Villager by completing these four quests:
- Wonders of Wonderland
- The Queen’s Maze
- Teeny, Tiny Problems
- Leaving Wonderland
- Ensure that you also have Moana, Maui, and Remy set up as Villagers and that you’ve completed their introductory questlines
- Complete Mannequin Madness in Scrooge McDuck’s store by chasing the strange, smiling mannequin and buying the mysterious new items in the catalogue
- Finish Chaos in the Kitchen in the Chez Remy restaurant, clearing up the chaos left by Cheshire and making the Cheshire Cat Tail recipe
- Complete Cat Tree Catastrophe to unlock Cheshire as a Villager
Cat Tree Catastrophe was initially a time-gated quest, but we gained access to it a day after completing Chaos in the Kitchen and moving Moana and Maui into the Valley.

When you get Cat Tree Catastrophe as an available quest, you’ll need to speak to Moana, take a picture of the Cheshire Catfish on the beach, then fish up five of these strange creatures on Dazzle Beach.
After this, head to Alice’s house and take a picture of the Cheshire Cat’s Mini Tree—it’s a picture of a tree on the wall, next to the bookcase and dresser. This will summon the real Cheshire Cat’s Tree, allowing you to place it as a home in the Valley for free.
Once the Cheshire Cat’s Tree has been placed, you can speak to Cheshire and interact with him just like any other Villager. He won’t get the standard introduction and photo most Villagers do, but he’s now a permanent resident in your town.
Next, you need to raise your Friendship level to seven. Hang out with Cheshire, speak to him daily, and give him his favorite gifts.
You can check a Villager’s favorite gift rotation—it does change regularly—by opening their tab in the Collections menu.
When your Friendship level reaches seven with Cheshire, you’ll be rewarded with 1,000 Star Coins and The Uncrafting Station quest.
First, you need to craft three Wildly Jubilant Topiaries for Cheshire. This requires:
- 5 x Pink Houseleek
- 15 x Clay
- 15 x Soil
When you’ve made them, take them to Cheshire. You’ll then need to place them and whack them with your Royal Pickaxe, giving you most of your materials back.
The next step is similar, with Cheshire giving you balloon arches to place and destroy, recouping some of the crafting materials.
Head back to Cheshire and speak to him about the process of uncrafting. You then need to head to the Wonderland Realm—you can fast travel from the map or head through the rabbit hole in the Plaza—and find 20 Blue Spores for Cheshire.
When you return the Blue Spores to Cheshire, you’ll need to obtain the final materials for the Uncrafting Station, as listed below.
Material | Quantity | Region/Source |
---|---|---|
Blue Passion Lily | Four | Frosted Heights |
Purple Bell Flower | Six | Forest of Valor |
Glass | 17 | Crafted (5 x Sand and 1 x Coal Ore) |
Mushroom | 28 | Glade of Trust |
Hardwood | 35 | Forest of Valor, Glade of Trust, Sunlit Plateau, and Frosted Heights |
Create the Uncrafting Station at a regular Crafting Station, place it wherever you like, and use it to uncraft an item of your choice. Then, simply speak to Cheshire for a final time to wrap up the quest.
