Revenant is one of the eight classes (Nightfarers) in Elden Ring Nightreign, with a distinctive set of passive abilities, character skills, and ultimate art.
Unlocking Revenant is not the easiest task—you will need to go through a few steps first. Here’s everything you need to know about unlocking the summoner class in Elden Ring Nightreign.
What type of Nightfarer is Revenant?
In Elden Ring Nightreign, the Revenant is a summoner Nightfarer. She is a tactical character who specialises in necromancy and can summon phantoms into battle and coordinate attacks with them (much like how the Necromancer class from Diablo 4 works).
She has no weapon preference as such, and comes with a low 200 HP count. But her ability to summon the dead allows her to play from the back and deal substantial damage that will make it much easier to take down some of the fierce bosses in Nightreign.

How to unlock Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign
Before unlocking Revenant, you have to unlock the Duchess.
Once you have unlocked her, follow the steps below:
- From the Small Jar Bazaar at the Roundtable Hold, purchase the Besmirched Frame relic—it costs 500 Murk.
- Now, open your mini map and head over to the marked location near the sparring grounds of the Roundtable Hold (the east wing side).
- After arriving, a ghostly figure will be standing at one corner, facing the wall, and staring at a painting – interact with her. This ghostly figure is of none other than the Revenant.
- After the interaction, you will be taken to the place where you have to fight the Night Idol boss. In this boss fight, you will encounter three types of enemies (Revenant’s summons):
- One who is fast and deals melee damage
- The bigger boss, who is slow and deals greater damage
- A stationary enemy that deals ranged attacks
- After defeating these enemies, Revenant will join the warriors of the Roundtable as a playable character, and you can pick her right after.
- All you need to do is head back to the Roundtable Hold and select her from the available classes.
Unlocking Revenant will also give you access to her quest—the Revenant Remembrance. To start the quest, all you need to do is talk to the Guardian, who will give you the task to defeat a Nightlord. Completing the quest will earn you sweet rewards, such as unique chalices, relics, and garbs for the Revenant.
Let’s now take a look at the best way to defeat the Night Idol boss and its minions.
How to defeat the Night Idol boss
The primary approach you need to have while fighting the Night Idol (the Revenant as an NPC in this case) is divide and rule. I know it sounds controversial, but that’s the easiest way of taking this boss down. Defeating the Night Idol is the only thing you need to do—running around, ignoring her summons, and beating her will do the job for you.

If you’re unable to do that, simply move away from the big and slow enemy to lure her summons further from it. It will only take a couple of heavy strikes. Then, aim for the bigger boss as it can deal heavy attacks. The disadvantage is that it’s sluggish, so you can easily dodge its attacks and land heavy blows.
You will find another stationary enemy that resembles a skeleton—you can ignore it, it really can’t do much if you’re not nearby.
Try dealing damage from a distance to the Revenant. Since she doesn’t have much health, beating it doesn’t take a lot of time. But I agree, running around can be a bit boring, but Elden lords are used to it at this point.
Defeating the Night Idol also unlocks The Revenant Joins the Fray achievement.
What if you die during the boss fight?
If you die during the Night Idol boss fight, don’t worry—you will be teleported back to the Roundtable Hold. You can then give it another shot from there.
There is no major penalty, and you can try as many times as you want to defeat the Revenant while she’s still an NPC.
