The doors to the Beast's castle have opened again, with more occupants waiting to be found in Disney Dreamlight Valley. The additional characters you can work on unlocking from this area are Lumiere and Cogsworth.
Lumiere and Cogsworth are some of the tougher villagers to add to your valley, as there are quite a few prerequisites that must be met before they're willing to join. How to get Lumiere and Cogsworth in Disney Dreamlight Valley
There are quite nine main prerequisites you need to get done before Lumiere and Cogsworth are willing to join your village, so here's a full breakdown of all requirements and quests you must complete to recruit them.
- Unlock the Beauty and The Beast Realm.
- Unlock Belle and the Beast.
- Build the Beast's castle.
- Acquire the Beast's letter.

Unlock the Beauty and the Beast Realm
The Beauty and the Beast Realm can be found on the third floor of the Dream Castle and can be unlocked for 12,500 Dreamlight. This door is marked with a rose icon, making it fairly easy to distinguish from other areas you can access. It's a very costly area to unlock, but you do get four new characters from this Realm, and it's a rather large area to explore, so the hefty price makes sense.
Unlock Belle and the Beast
Once you're inside the Realm, get to work unlocking Belle and the Beast, as both characters must be unlocked before you can recruit Lumiere and Cogsworth. Work through the Into the West Wing! quest, then tackle A Prince in Disguise to recruit them.
Build the Beast's castle
Near the end of the A Prince in Disguise quest, you'll unlock the ability to build a house for Belle and the Beast to live in. Travel back to Dreamlight Valley and construct Beast's castle, which can be done by placing the blueprints, interacting with the Scrooge McDuck sign, and spending 20,000 Star Coins.
Acquire the Beast's letter
With all of the previous tasks complete, open your mailbox to find the "My friends at the castle" letter from the Beast, which officially starts the main process for unlocking Lumiere and Cogsworth. Head back into the Beauty and the Beast Realm to start your next quest.
Complete The Haunting of Beast's Castle quest
As soon as you enter the Beast's castle, you can start working on The Haunting of Beast's Castle quest. Help Lumiere get some light in the castle, recover a strange flying painting, and rescue Cogsworth from the garden to finish this mission.
Complete A Growing Mystery quest
Next up, you need to tackle the A Growing Mystery quest. In this one, you must help Cogsworth find some rose seeds, restore the rose garden, and fix up some parts of the castle with the fresh roses you grow.
Complete Belle, Book, and Candle quest
The third main mission you must finish to unlock this duo is the Belle, Book, and Candle quest. For this quest, you must help fix up the castle even further, find a strange old book for Lumiere, and pay a visit to the valley to seek help from Belle and the Beast.
Complete A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping quest
The final quest you need to complete to unlock Lumiere and Cogsworth is A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping. This is the toughest mission to get done, as you must find hidden Charcuterie Board ingredients, recover some missing resources, and set up for a grand party.
Unlock Lumiere in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Lumiere is unlocked near the end of the A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping quest, right after you throw a party with him and Cogsworth. He joins your village as soon as you return to the valley with him. You don't need to build a house for him, as he moves right in with the Beast and Belle.
Unlock Cogsworth in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Cogsworth joins your valley at the very end of the A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping quest, shortly after you take Lumiere to the village and reunite him with the Beast and Belle. When you do, you'll get a letter from the Beast asking Cogsworth to come.
The tiny clock always listens to him, so return to the Beauty and the Beast Realm to get him, then head back to the valley one more time to officially unlock him as a villager. He also moves into the castle with the rest of the group.
