If you’re looking for top-of-the-line machines in Kirby Air Riders, it doesn’t get better than the legendary machine, Leo. Leo is like Kirby Air Riders’ final boss, being the best machine in the game to date. However, unlocking it requires a lot of time and effort, so don’t think you’ll get it overnight.
Today, I’ll walk you through the process of unlocking Leo in Kirby Air Riders so you can dominate anyone you come across.
How To Unlock Leo In Kirby Air Riders

Leo has two unlock conditions, depending on whether you’re unlocking it in Road Trip or City Trial. The first one is for City Trial and applies to all legendary machines: Collect 3 parts in City Trial.
The second condition is for Road Trip and is harder to meet: Defeat the true final boss and fill in at least 140 Checklist blocks. Now, getting the True Ending objective isn’t an easy feat and will take a while, so chip away at it slowly.
Unlocking Leo In Road Trip
You’ll need to unlock Leo in Road Trip before you can unlock it in City Trial. You’ll need to complete the entire Road Trip storyline, plus finish 140 objectives from the Checklist in order to unlock it.
This might seem like an impossible challenge, but if you’re checking off a few objectives each run, you’ll be down to a few objectives remaining by the time you finish Road Trip. The best way to do this is to complete the easy challenges first, and then work your way up to the harder ones. This will also reduce monotony while playing since you’ll always have a goal to achieve.
Once you’ve defeated the True Final Boss in Road Trip and unlocked Leo, you can now move on to unlocking him in City Trial. I’ll explain how to go about that.
Unlocking Leo In City Trial
All you need to unlock Leo in City Trial is to collect 3 of its parts in City Trial. This is easier said than done. But here are some tips to help you out:
- The part locations will be visible on the minimap as you’re riding around. Always make sure to watch for them so you’re not moving aimlessly.
- Parts can drop from red and rare boxes on the map. Rare boxes are awarded from events, but also drop on the map occasionally. Parts have a higher drop rate in rare boxes compared to red boxes.
- Parts can be stolen from players in Kirby Air Riders. This means that you can steal a part from another player (the location is visible on the minimap). Be careful since someone can steal it from you, too.
- While events have a chance to drop rare boxes, legendary machine events have much better rewards. ‘Legendary Machines in the Wild’ is a fun event where legendary machines appear on the map. Attack or destroy them to retrieve their parts.
- If you’ve never been to the Floating Islands, it might be time to start. Leo’s parts can sometimes spawn on Floating Islands as well.
By following these methods, you’ll be able to quickly unlock Leo in Kirby Air Riders. Once you do that, boot up the local multiplayer and have some fun.
