To unlock and build a hatchery for Buggies in Grounded 2, you have to progress through the main story until you reach the Egg Hunt quest. This mission introduces you to the Buggy system, where you can raise, ride, and manage insect mounts like the Red Soldier Ant and the Orb Weaver Spider.

Each mount has unique strengths, and before you can ride one, you’ll need to unlock and construct both a Hatchery and a nest specific to the bug you’re hatching. Once the Egg Hunt quest begins, head to any Ranger Outpost and visit the Science Shop.

Here, you can buy the Hatchery Bundle for 500 Real Science points. Purchasing this bundle unlocks the blueprint to craft the Hatchery, which serves as your primary structure for incubating Buggy eggs. To build the Hatchery, you will need to gather the following materials:

  • Six Weed Stems
  • One Acorn Top
  • Six Acorn Shells
  • Five Mite Fuzz

After placing the Hatchery at your base, you must also build a nest specific to the bug you’re raising. Once both structures are built, you have to collect the respective egg for the Buggy you want to hatch. After collecting the egg, bring it back to your Hatchery and begin incubation.

This process takes 12 in-game hours. While the egg is incubating, you should also craft a Buggy-specific saddle to be able to ride the mount. Here are all the resources you will need to ride a buggy in Grounded 2.
