How to turn Sky Sports crowd noise on and off for Nottingham Forest's Championship matches

Nottingham Forest fans will get their first taste of City Ground football since early March this weekend, when Sabri Lamouchi’s Reds host struggling Huddersfield looking to build on Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

Sunday afternoon’s visit of the Terriers will be played out in front of an almost-empty stadium for the first time, with supporters barred from coming Trentside.

The game, however, will be broadcast on Sky Sports and fans will have the unique opportunity to have crowd noise turned on, should they wish, in addition to the usual matchday commentary.

With the return of the Premier League last week, the fake crowd noise has caused some debate on social media and in fact, been used incorrectly at times.

Sky have teamed up with EA Sports FIFA to produce the interactive crowd noise, and chants, to add some atmosphere to the viewing experience, and Reds fans will get their first taste of it this weekend before the East Midlands derby next Saturday.

If you’d like to watch the game with the fake crowd noise, this will be available on Sky Sports Main Event (401).

The generated crowd noise is automatic if you’re watching the game on the Main Event channel.

However, if you don’t want the crowd noise, and you want to hear the players and managers’ shouts, then Championship games will also be available to watch on a regular Sky Sports channel.

“It varies for each club, but in total, we’re providing over 1,300 assets that equates to roughly 13 hours of audio content,” EA Sports recently told the Daily Mail.

“From that content, we find the best bites and assets that will be integrated into the broadcast.

“For this project, we migrated it into a unique format for live experiences and dynamic mixing functionality for the broadcasters to apply to specific points during a match based on what’s unfolding on the field.”
