Despite being an essential feature in multiplayer games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, many players, especially ones on consoles, prefer to keep crossplay disabled for justified reasons.
The crossplay switch can be a bit hard to spot in the latest Call of Duty game, but don’t worry—we’re here to help you fine-tune your lobby. Here’s how you can disable (or enable) crossplay in BO7.

How to disable crossplay in Black Ops 7 on Xbox
If you’re on an Xbox console and want to turn off (or on) crossplay for Black Ops 7, here’s the catch: you can’t change crossplay settings via the in-game settings on this platform. Instead, you need to tinker with the Privacy and Online Safety device settings. So, follow these steps to get it done:
- Close the game and open the console’s Settings menu.
- Then, navigate in the following order: Online Safety and Family > Privacy and Online Safety > Xbox Privacy > View Details & Customize > Communication & Multiplayer.
- Now, below the “You can join cross-network play,” select the drop-down option and choose “Block.”

Once done, crossplay should be disabled for Black Ops 7 on your Xbox console. You can’t modify crossplay settings for a specific game on Xbox; the options you choose apply to every game and not just Black Ops 7. To enable it again for the FPS or any other title, you can follow the same steps described and choose “Allow” instead of “Block.”
How to disable crossplay in Black Ops 7 on PlayStation
The process to turn off crossplay in Black Ops 7 is the easiest on PlayStation consoles. You can do it from the in-game settings; just follow these steps:
- While in the game, open the Settings page.
- Select the “Account & Network” option.
- Here, you’ll see options to disable (or enable) crossplay for three modes: Multiplayer Unranked, Multiplayer Ranked, and Warzone Ranked.
- Select the dropdown for the mode you want to disable crossplay for and choose Off.

If you want to disable crossplay for just PC, you can do that too in the PlayStation version of Black Ops 7. Just select “On (Console only)” instead of “Off.”
Can you disable crossplay in BO7 on PC?
If you’re playing Black Ops 7 on PC, unfortunately, you don’t have the option to disable crossplay at all. While the developers haven’t provided an official reason, it’s likely intended to maintain an efficient matchmaking pool for PC players. Black Ops 6 didn’t carry this option on PC either.
The general consensus is that since mouse and keyboard users typically have an advantage over controller players on consoles, it theoretically shouldn’t matter.
But here’s where things get complicated: many PC players believe console players gain an unfair edge through aim assist, leading them to want crossplay disabled to avoid keyboard-breaking moments—like getting mysteriously one-shot from across the map. Then again, some PC players choose to use controllers themselves to benefit from aim assist.
Should you enable or disable crossplay in BO7?
It depends on what you prefer and what platform you’re on.
A console player may want to avoid mouse and keyboard opponents—or worse, a PC player using a controller—altogether. The PC platform also has a reputation for hosting a larger number of cheaters. If you’re concerned about competitive fairness in Black Ops 7 on console, you’ll likely benefit from disabling crossplay. That said, with the setting turned off, you won’t be able to party up with anyone on a different platform.
PC players haven’t had the option to disable crossplay in any Call of Duty title since Modern Warfare 2019, so for them, the question is essentially irrelevant.
