During lockdown, social media platform TikTok has been teaching us some interesting life hacks from cleaning tips to how to hang up the phone without coming across rude.
But now, TikTok users have learned how to tell if a call centre handler can still hear you while you are on hold.
One helpful account under the name @yourdailydoseoflifehacks, went viral after sharing the sneaky tip about call centres.
The page posts a life hack daily and this one got many talking.
In the video, the account owners told viewers about the easy way to tell if call handlers can still hear what you say while they place you on hold.
They explain: "When a call centre puts you on hold and you don't hear music, it means you're on mute... and they can hear everything you're saying (good and bad)."
This hack is bound to save some people from humiliating themselves - and causing offence!
The clip went viral, being watched over 600,000 times and garnering over 74,000 likes.
Hundreds of people also took the time to comment, sharing their thoughts and admitting to being caught out by this in the past.
One person wrote: "Oh noo."
"Oh good," said another. "Cos I'm usually expressing how useless their service has been."
"Embarrassing," proclaimed a third.
Someone else replied: "Yep, this is 100% true."
"Oh my god," proclaimed a fifth.
A different user added: "Yes, I learned it last year, now every time I'm on hold, I mute myself (my call) and put call on speaker so I know when they're back."
A few others shared that they also did this when on hold, while someone else said they would just speak in another language while complaining - just in case anyone could hear them on the other end of the phone.
