How to Stiff Arm in College Football 26

From jukes to trucks, College Football 26 offers a ton of ball carrier movements. These are all designed to help you leave defenders in the dust and carry the ball to the end zone. However, if you want the most important tool to fend off defenders, nothing beats the stiff arm.

The stiff arm is one of the most overpowered mechanics currently in the game, as it helps you dodge incoming tackles without losing momentum. In this guide, I’ll be explaining how to use the stiff arm in CFB 26 and gain some easy yards.

What Is The Stiff Arm?

Similar to trucking, the stiff arm is a power move that lets your ball carrier avoid an incoming tackle. However, unlike the truck mechanic, which is useful during head-on collisions, the stiff arm is best used during side tackles.

To best understand it, let’s imagine a simple scenario: You’re executing a run play, and you plan to carry the ball to gain yards. When you start running after the handoff, you see a defender closing in from either side. Once the defender is close enough, he’ll try to tackle you. This is where you’ll use the stiff arm mechanic. The mechanic will make your ball carrier push away the defender, helping you gain extra yards.

How To Perform The Stiff Arm?

To use the stiff arm in CFB 26, follow these simple steps.

  • Make the handoff after the snap, or pass it to a receiver if you’re executing a passing play.
  • Once your ball carrier receives the ball, start running towards the end zone.
  • When you see a defender closing in from either side, press and hold the X button on PlayStation or the A button on Xbox.
  • This will activate the stiff arm mechanic, and your ball carrier should be able to avoid the tackle if it’s a 1v1 situation.
  • Remember, hold the X/A button as you make contact to extend your arm and push the defender away.

This is how you can perform the stiff arm in College Football 26. The best time to use it is when the defender is close to your ball carrier. If you have the prompts enabled, you’ll even see a stiff arm indicator pop up when a defender closes in on you from the side. The indicator can help you perfect the timing, so I recommend keeping it on. Simply press and hold the X/A button when the indicator appears.

The last thing to keep in mind is the stat that affects the stiff arm. While you can perform the mechanic with any player, it’ll be most effective with players who have high strength stats. If your ball carrier has higher strength stats than the defender making the tackle, the stiff arm will let you easily dodge the tackle.

That said, try the stiff arm in the practice arena to make sure you get the hang of it. Once you nail down the timing, crank it out in rivalry games to score those mind-blowing touchdowns.
