As Greater Manchester freezes amid bitterly cold temperatures, people are starting to dream of a White Christmas. The sight of trees, cars and homes covered in a layer of ice and snow has become increasingly common in recent weeks.
But while the region resembles a winter wonderland, it's bad news for some as the cold snap could help crimefighters.
Police have previously shared photos showing how snow - or in particular the lack of snow on a roof - could be down to more than just very poor insulation.
Exposed dry bare tiles could in fact be a sign that a property is being used as a cannabis factory, Birmingham Live reports.
When it snows, the heat generated by cannabis farms melt the snow and leave them sticking out like a sore thumb.
The image above was taken by officers in Haarlem near Amsterdam, and was shared on social media by Kingsbridge police, who said: "If we are lucky enough to have some decent snow over the next few days, and if anybody notices a sight like this, can you let us know."
Police in the UK have been known to use their helicopter patrols to look out for similar suspiciously frost-free roofs..
