It’s finally that time of the year for the MLB The Show community. With the game cycle winding up and MLB The Show 26 already being announced, it’s time to start dumping your stubs back into the game. It doesn’t matter whether you racked up 20,000 or 20,000,000 stubs over the year, since they don’t carry over, unfortunately.
But with the drop of the last major roster updates, what should you spend your remaining stubs on? That’s a good question and one that I’ll be answering today. Regardless of the number of stubs, you should always aim to try out new strategies or complete collections before switching over to the new iteration. Let’s take a look at the best ways to spend your remaining stubs in MLB The Show 25.
How To Spend Your Remaining Stubs

Complete Unfinished Collections
Wrapping up old collections is, without a doubt, one of the best ways to spend your stubs at the end of the year. Several collections offer valuable, permanent rewards on completion, such as the Live Series collection.
This can be a fun little side-quest to do if you’re bored with the main game modes, or you could power through and try completing multiple collections at once. Since you’ll need to find specific cards on the marketplace, it can take a while. But if you have extra stubs to spare, there’s no reason why you can’t splurge a little.
Collection completion doesn’t just offer you permanent rewards; it also increases your account’s value. As with any video game, an account with every card/character in the game garners the most attention. It’s also satisfying to have several niche rewards that signify your dedication to the game.
Buying Specific Cards
Maybe you didn’t play as much to get collection completions, or you simply don’t care for it. If that’s the case, picking up rare, high-value cards is always a good idea. The end of the game cycle is a great time to buy high-value cards rather than open packs to get them. This is because players will often sell duplicates or cards they don’t want for lower prices.
Several 99 OVR cards wouldn’t get picked throughout the season because a better alternative would be available. If some of your favourite players were in that category, there’s no better time than now to get them and try them out.
This is also important since there won’t be any new major updates to the game. That means no new cards that will make older cards feel redundant again. So open the marketplace and check out those great deals before they’re gone.
Improving Your RTTS Ballplayer
No MLB The Show article is complete without a section on the fan-favourite mode, Diamond Dynasty. If you’ve been hesitant to buy that top-tier equipment for your Ballplayer in RTTS, now’s a great time to check it out.
With the spare stubs you have, you can buy amazing bats, gloves, cleats, etc, to enhance your Ballplayer. These will provide great attribute boosts as well, which will help you out each time you come back to Diamond Dynasty or RTTS. Don’t be afraid of going for the expensive stuff since stubs don’t carry over anyway.
Experiment With New Strategies
A majority of the player base is bound to the meta throughout the season in order to climb ranks. While it isn’t a favourable trend, it’s one that is present in almost every competitive game out there. Fortunately, with the game cycle ending, those restrictions are lifted.
One way to spend your remaining stubs in MLB The Show 25 is to buy new cards and experiment with different strategies. You could also try out players at varying positions or build a team around a particular card. The extra stubs allow you to test creative strategies that you didn’t have the freedom to do before.
A plus point of this method is that those strategies might help you out in MLB The Show 26, especially at launch. If it’s unique and innovative, you can catch people off guard in the first few weeks until they catch on. So test out every strategy that comes to mind without hesitation.
Flip The Market
For those of you who enjoy market trends and aren’t that bothered with the gameplay itself, now’s the best time to flip cards on the marketplace. As I mentioned above, players will be shelling out resources, be it stubs or cards. If you still want to earn more stubs or just play around with the market, you can buy high-value cards on the low end and resell them.
However, the flip might take significantly longer now than it did in the regular season. Most players already have the cards they’re looking for, or will find someone who undersells you. Still, if this is something you enjoy, go for it.
