Step-by-step guide to solve the Wall Puzzle in Where Winds Meet
Prepare by starting the Echoes of Old Battles Quest
The Wall Puzzle is part of the Echoes of Old Battles quest. To start, you need to head to Battlecrest Slope in Qinghe, where you’ll encounter a key NPC and fight guards, including the tough Zhang Bao.
Defeat all the enemies there and collect the treasure map clue from a chest to reveal the locations of important contraptions. You have to activate these contraptions to trigger the underground passage.
Access the Underground Chambers
Once the passage opens, perform the Mighty Drop ability above the circular structure that appears to break open the entrance. Descend into the chambers until you find a corpse holding a clue. The clue will be the Yanyun Oath pose, and it’s essential for solving the puzzle.
Perform the Yanyun Oath pose
Continue deeper until you come across a large statue. Perform the Yanyun Oath pose in front of it to reveal a wall puzzle on either side of the statue with stone blocks.
Each block can be pushed in or pulled out, which switches its illuminated state.
Light the correct characters
You have to match the characters shown in the Yanyun Oath clue. What you need to do is pull a block out to light it up, while pushing it in dims it. Use this mechanic to show only the correct characters, removing the incorrect ones by dimming them.
On the left wall, light the characters that show mountain, river, inch, and earth. Push in the top-left block only. On the right wall, light the characters that show oath, death, not, and easy. Push in the first and third interactable blocks to dim them, leaving the correct ones lit.
Proceed through the open gate
After correctly illuminating the characters, the gate will open. Carefully make your way through it while avoiding traps, and explore the chamber with a water wheel and waterfall.
