How to play multiplayer with your friends on Call of Duty: Vanguard

With the new Call of Duty title launching today, you're probably really excited to go home after work or school and jump on with your friends.

The good news is that it doesn't matter if you're on Xbox, PlayStation or PC, you and your mates can all play together because Vanguard comes with cross-play compatibility (You may have to enable this feature but we'll get to that later).

Once you've got the game installed on your system you can follow this guide to jump on with your friends straight away.

This guide also works for other Call of Duty games that are integrated with Vanguard such as Warzone, Black Ops: Cold War, and Modern Warfare.

How to add your friends on Call of Duty: Vanguard

Call of Duty has made it easy to add your friends on their games (Activision)

Once you log into Call of Duty: Vanguard you'll be presented with the main menu which often has a selection of the different Call of Duty games you can access.

Select Vanguard where you'll be taken to the game mode selection screen.

In the top right of this menu, you'll find the social option, head on over to here.

On the social menu, you'll find a list of friends that you currently have on Call of Duty and Activision.

Ask your friend for their Call of Duty account name and press 'Add friend' where you can add the account name which will then send a friend request to their account.

All they have to do now is accept the request and you can invite them to your party and start playing together.

What if my friend is on a different console?

If your friend is on a different console you will need to add their Activision account, rather than their console account's name.

When you reach the social menu mentioned above, you will find the option to 'Add Activision Friends'.

Click on this and search for your friend's Activision account to send a friend request.

It's important to note that if you already have your friends added from a previous compatible Call of Duty game they should already be on your friends list.

It's also vital that you have cross-play enabled onto your account to play with friends on different consoles.

To check this is enabled, head on over to the 'Account & Network' tab on the game menu.

No matter the console they're on, there is a way to play with your friends (Activision)

There will be a section showing if crossplay and crossplay communication is toggled on or off.

Make sure it's toggled on or you will be unable to play with friends on different consoles.

Having crossplay enabled also means that you will be fighting against players from different consoles - sometimes console players don't want to play against mouse and keyboard.

If you want to play with your friends on different consoles this can't be avoided, but it's probably better than just playing alone against people on the same system as you.

Crossplay is also enabled on Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies so you can fight against hordes of the undead with your friends on different consoles.
