How to play Destiny Rising on Mac

Destiny Rising is built for phones, but if you’re the PC type, NetEase has your back too with official emulator support. But does it work on Mac? Well, there’s a catch.

Like Destiny 2, Rising is a cross-platform sci-fi FPS experience. You can team up with friends on different mobile platforms (Android or iOS) and those using the MuMu emulator on Windows. If you’re a Mac user, however, it’s not as simple as downloading the emulator and installing the game—at least for now.

Here’s how to play Destiny Rising on Mac.

Technically, you should be able to run Destiny Rising on a Mac with the officially recommended MuMu or even other emulator services.

Unfortunately, however, players have reported running into errors that prevent them from launching the game using MuMu or any other emulator on a MacOS device. Despite the official website’s claims, it appears that Rising isn’t fully supported on Mac at this time.

NetEase is eventually expected to fix the issue and activate official emulator support for Mac devices, but until then, you can use a workaround.

How to play Destiny Rising on Mac using Sideloadly

Before you try this workaround, check if Destiny Rising is playable with the MuMu emulator. If not, you need to download Sideloadly (thanks to u/Aqoric on Reddit for this solution) and “sideload” the game from the App Store. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Download Sideloadly’s MacOS version from the official website and run it as admin (Open Terminal, type sudo, and paste the location of the Sideloadly executable).
  2. Now, open armconverter.com in a browser and make an account if you don’t already have one. While logged in and on the homepage, click on the three horizontal lines menu and select Decrypted IPA Store. Search for Destiny Rising in the library and open its page.
  3. Here, click on Decrypt the app and wait for the Install with Sideloadly option to appear. Click on it when it does.
  4. When the Sideloadly pop-up opens, type your Apple ID and then click on Start.
  5. Now, you should see Destiny Rising in the Games folder. Run it as admin and you should be able to play it without issues.

You may face some performance issues in Destiny Rising with this method, which is understandable since it isn’t the official way. But NetEase should fix the bug with the MuMu emulator soon, so you won’t need to side load the game forever.
