How to pick your horse for Grand National 2019 ahead of Aintree showcase race

Are you asking yourself: “Which horse should I pick for the Grand National”? If so, we’ve got a gadget to help.

We’ve fed key details of the 40 runners and riders into a database and created an algorithm to aid you in making a choice.

All you need to do is move the sliders on the gadget to tell us how important it is to you to have a horse in good form, a horse among the favourites, a horse with a low (or high) handicap, and a horse with a highly-rated jockey.

Once you are happy, click “find my horse” and we’ll show you the best match.

We’ve set the gadget so you can’t simply slide all the bars to the right - meaning you’ll have to choose which factors are most important to you.

Good luck!

Tiger Roll headlines the field as Gordon Elliott's prized possession looks to become the first double Grand National winner since 1974.

No horse has defended the coveted crown in nearly half a century but the bookmakers clearly fancy Tiger Roll as having a great chance of doing so.

But he will have to defeat a talented field of 39 others and then negotiate famous fences such as Beecher's Brook, Foinavon and the Chair if he is to do so.

Also in contention and favoured in the early stages are Rathvinden, Anibale Fly and Vintage Clouds.

However, history shows that backing the favourites might not be the smartest call.
