Beautiful in its simplicity, the No Comply can be seen as the ideal gateway for those looking to improve their variations in skate, as well as a sure way to show all that you know the basics by heart.
But as the trick demands taking a few extra steps when compared to the usual ollie or kickflip, it was a given that performing it would not be as easy as flicking your analog stick, right? Here’s how to perform and quickly master the No Comply in skate.
How To Perform The No Comply In Skate
To perform a No Comply in skate, tap A/X before quickly performing a simple ollie by flicking the right analog stick down and then upward. If you want to shake things up, you can also chain two No Complys together or perform it while out of stance for the switch variation. Holding the left analog stick in any direction while in the air also allows you to go for a 180°, although doing so will require a little more airtime. To recap, here’s how to do all of the classic No Comply variations on skate:
- No Comply: Quickly tap A (Xbox)/X (PlayStation) before performing a simple ollie.
- No Comply Switch: Perform a No Comply while out of your main stance. If you want, you can change your main stance on skate by heading to Settings, Gameplay, and then Preferences.
- No Comply 180: Tilt or hold the left analog stick to either side while performing the trick. Best used when given extended airtime.

When To No Comply
As the No Comply won’t reward you with many points by itself, the trick is best used when setting up a drop or looking to farm points via easy trick sequences and highly rewarding grinds. I, for example, love using it on stairs, the latter of which allows you to do the above without the risk of ruining your line due to a lack of momentum. The Switch No Comply also allows you to get back on the right foot with little drawback, so make sure to abuse it to close out with style or further mix things up.
If you haven’t already, knowing how to perform skate‘s best grab tricks can also help you add another layer to your game and bring even more sequences to life. We also highly recommend taking a look at what to do when having trouble connecting to the game.
