How to maximise your Christmas 2021 annual leave and get 10 days off for the price of three

As the winter months approach and the end of the year draws closer, it may be time to start thinking about making the most of any annual leave you have left for 2021.

Organising time off can be tough, but is crucial if you want to enjoy your holiday time to the fullest.

At the start of this year, the Irish Mirror took a look at the Bank Holidays on offer for 2021. On top of the minimum 20 days annual leave every worker is entitled to, we have figured out how you can maximise your time away from the desk this Christmas.

Christmas Day falls on a Saturday this year, with St Stephen's Day on Sunday. This means the bank holidays will fall on December 27 and 28 – the Monday and Tuesday. If you're clever, you can bag 10 days off for the price of four.

If you don’t have Christmas Eve off already, book it off. That’s five days you’ll have off in a row from December 24 to December 28. Then book December 29,30 and 31 off too. Then the weekend of January 1st and 2nd is all yours too.

With just three or four days booked off, that’s a total of 10 days off in a row to truly enjoy the festive season.

But remember, this will only work if you’re lucky enough to follow a regular shift pattern with weekends and Bank Holidays off.
