Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Skate have both been pushing crazy flip tricks in the video game scene for decades, delivering the finest skating experiences money can buy. While Activision continued to update its franchise with new releases, EA remained silent on Skate since 2014. Fast forward to the present day, and they have responded with a solid comeback.
Skate is back and has already made a name for itself within just a few days of release. Fans are eager to master clever tricks and show them off around San Vansterdam. As skateboarding is all about pulling off flashy moves, here’s how to master Wallies in Skate 4 and turn some heads on the streets.
What Is A Wallie?
In the world of skateboarding, a wallie refers to getting onto the side of an obstacle, such as a wall, and riding along it using the board’s momentum. The key here is to ride up and over it after an ollie, making sure the board’s tail doesn’t pop.
Wallies are pretty easy to perform compared to other ankle-breaking moves. This is because they rely on a smooth upward motion and control rather than a tail pop. Similar to real life, a wallie is considered a beginner move in Skate; ideal for those who are just getting started.
How To Perform A Wallie In Skate 4

Performing wallies is simple, but since skating relies heavily on split-second decisions, timing matters a lot. To perform a wallie in Skate 4, follow these steps:
- Hop on your board
- Gain speed and ride towards the object
- Ollie when you feel like you are about to crash into it
That’s it! All you need to do is flick the right stick up at the correct timing, and your player will perform a wallie.
Mastering Wallies In Skate 4
While the steps above are simple to follow, mastering wallies is easier said than done. Here, timing and precise inputs are the deciding factors. One wrong move and you’ll be on the floor.
In order to master this move, we recommend that you practice in an open space with minimal distractions around your object. However, if you can’t trigger it with an ollie, performing a wallie through other flip tricks is still possible. Here’s how:
- Head to Menu > Settings
- Choose Gameplay from the screen
- Head to TRICK TOGGLES
- Turn ‘Wallies Require Ollies’ Off
This way, you can ditch ollies if you can’t stop slamming off the board, and trigger wallies with other comfortable flip tricks.
That said, this is everything behind performing and perfecting your wallies in Skate 4. If you’re just starting, check out our guides on better flick it controls and settings, and become the best skater in the park.
