How to master Alley Oops in NBA 2K26

Alley Oops are perhaps one of the funkiest ways of scoring baskets in NBA 2K26, and when executed right, they can land you additional points by bypassing your opponents.

Thanks to the gameplay changes made this year, there are a few differences in how we can perform an Alley Oop. Moreover, the control scheme differs for performing an Alley Oop with your teammate or going solo.

How to perform an Alley Oop in NBA 2K26?

Double-tap your controller's Triangle/Y button to throw an Alley Oop pass. This will automatically trigger your applicable player (near the rim) to run towards the rim while attempting to catch the ball. Once you have made the pass, an input will appear on your screen. This input will vary between your three other primary control buttons.

Last year, we had to press Triangle/Y again to finish the move. This year, it's purely random, so notice the input on the screen. You can also remove the randomness of the player making the run by selecting your PF/C first.

How to perform Alley Oop by yourself in NBA 2K26?

Typically, the Alley Oop is best performed with a teammate in NBA 2K26. However, you can do it all by yourself with the correct controls.

  • Press the Square + Triangle/X + Y buttons to lob the ball. It's best to do the task right before entering the paint to increase your chances of success.
  • Once the player is in the air, a random input will appear on your screen. Press the input correctly to complete the move and score your basket.

In my experience, the self-alley oop has a lot of scope for mistakes, so practice this well. Whenever you're relying on another ally, always call them first and set them as a pick. This is better done with your PFs and Cs; their bigger height will make it easier for them to grab and dunk with the ball in the air.
