College Football 26 brings a lot of realism to the game, including the wear and tear the sport takes on players. In College Football 25, the new wear and tear system was combined with a cumbersome substitution system, taking players out of the action. Now, College Football 26 has fixed that with a brand-new quick substitution menu.
Substitutions in College Football 26

Last year’s game required players to pause and go to the coaching menu to make substitutions. Subbing was costly in online games. Competitive games allow a limited number of pauses. As a result, we’d have to risk a player getting injured before being able to substitute for him.
In College Football 26 Dynasty, it’s even worse. Wear and tear could cost you a key player for weeks. To prevent it, you had to regularly go into the pause menu and adjust your depth chart. Players asked for the quality of life change, and EA delivered in College Football 26.
Using Quick Substitutions

Making substitutions in-game is now quick and easy to do. Press up on the D-pad, and you’ll see a substitution menu open. You can toggle between player groups, like skill players or offensive linemen. Once you have the group you want to adjust, scroll down to the specific position and move the d-pad left or right to select the player you want. That player will be subbed into the game.
The pre-snap substitution won’t take effect until the next play. You also can’t sub for a position that isn’t on the field. In a five-wide receiver set with no halfback, you can’t sub for the running back. Positions on the field can be substituted.
Strategy will play into this, too. A team with two great running backs can use this feature to make quick changes based on the situation. There are plenty of teams with the “lightning and thunder” backfield model, and this will make them even more challenging to defend.
