If your fry-up doesn't involve square sausage, we don't want to know about it.
Now, a Scots cook has revealed how to make an enormous batch of mouth-watering square sausage for yourself in just a few simple steps.
It's perfect for a Scottish fry up or in a crispy morning roll and you only need a few basic ingredients which you are bound to find in the supermarket.
The recipe is super easy to customise as well if you want to give it an extra punch with spice etc.
The Scot, who didn't want to be named, 50, from Campsie, East Dumbartonshire, revealed how to make the square sausage on the Scotland forever recipe Facebook page.
She told the Record: "It was a recipe an old butcher friend used which I adapted to suit my own taste.
"The nutmeg, coriander salt and pepper can be adjusted for personal taste.
"The beef and pork should not be too lean or the sausage may be too dry".
Here is the delicious recipe:
Ingredients
- 2 lbs/905g minced beef
- 2 lbs/905g minced pork
- 2 tsp pepper
- 2 tsp nutmeg
- 3 tsp coriander
- 3 tsp salt
- 1 cup of water
Method
1. Mix all the ingredients really well by hand then place in an oblong pan - you may need two pans - about 10 x 4 inches.
2. Wrap in cling film and place in the freezer for a little while until it's just starting to set.
3. Remove it and cut them to the thickness you prefer then put them into freezer bags and put them back in the freezer.
4. When required, defrost and fry in a little fat or oil until brown and cooked through.
