Tutor profiles

Jim Cregan went to Oz after getting fed up of UK winters. During his trip, he found the phenomenon of ready-to-drink iced coffee. After returning home to the UK, he realised that nobody made anything close to what he had on his travels and decided to make his own. He teamed up with his sister Sooz, and formed Jimmy's Iced Coffee in November 2010. Five months later they sold their first carton in Selfridges. Since their launch, they've gained listings with Tesco, BP, WHSmith, Waitrose, Budgens, Welcome Break and Ocado. Their strap line is 'Keep Your Chin Up' and is the foundation of what Jimmy's is all about.

Luke Suddards is the co-founder of Sandows London, the capital's first cold brew coffee specialists. Luke was previously a manager and barista at TAP Coffee in Soho where he met business partner Hugh Duffie, and the pair began developing the brand story, recipes and packaging for Sandows. Launched in April 2014, the boys have now sold 6,000 bottles in under six months. Winners of the Young British Foodies Coffee category for 2014, Sandows has been called the 'connoisseurs choice' and 'the king of cold brew coffees' and has gained substantial coverage in the media this summer.

Joel Lovett has worked in the hospitality industry for over twenty years in the UK and abroad, including bars, pubs, and hotels, as well as food and drink provision in private game reserves and private islands, including Richard Branson's "Necker Island". On returning to the UK and struggling to find places to hang-out that also had great coffee and friendly service, he set about creating his dream cafe. Cafe Boscanova opened in 2007 serving top quality coffee, with a huge focus on customer service. Cafe Boscanova now has a sister coffee bar in Bournemouth called South Coast Roast, runs a barista training program, is building a micro-roastery and operates two other venues. Joel's time is divided between the cafes and private consultancy work with other start-up cafes.

Ben Roberts is the founder of Bird & Wild. Established in 2013, Bird & Wild focuses on sourcing wildlife-friendly coffees from forest farms around the world. They have their own dedicated organic roastery in Dorset, where they roast and pack all of the coffees by hand. Bird & Wild started with one coffee from a group of farms in Ethiopia (from where they still buy coffee each season), and have since grown the range to include coffees from forests in Peru and Honduras. Bird & Wild is stocked in a host of independents, organic supermarkets Planet Organic and As Nature Intended, and are also launching in March with Abel & Cole.
