Attracting over a million unique players in just 24 hours of launch, Rematch has arguably become the most highlighted sports game of 2025. By ditching realism and blending fluid mechanics with flashy animations, Rematch is highly appealing, even to those who have nothing to do with soccer. While it keeps you hooked even if you dive solo, it’s highly engaging if played with friends.
But since cross-play is currently under development, players are only stuck to the same platform for teaming up. So, if you and your friends share the same machine, this guide will help you play Rematch together.
How To Invite Friends Online In Rematch
To welcome friends in your Rematch squad, head to the top right corner and access the social tab. This is the place where you can add up to four of your existing buddies and compete in quick or ranked matches together. Use either the plus icon or simply access the Friends List and add your desired mates.
What Platforms Are Compatible?
Good news for Xbox and PC players. With both parties subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, cross-play is possible, thanks to Microsoft’s Xbox Live infrastructure, which provides seamless connectivity between these two platforms. So, if your friends are added to your Xbox Live, you can start playing right away.
However, PlayStation players who want to join their PC or Xbox buddies will have to wait until Sloclap updates the game with complete cross-play integration. In the meantime, you can ride solo and learn new mechanics.
Is It Possible To Add New Friends To Rematch?
Adding new friends is possible, but there is a catch. As of now, you can head to your Friends List, select the Recent tab, and request players you’ve played with recently.
But if you want to add an individual of your choice, it’s necessary to put them on your respective platforms first so they can show up in Rematch. For instance, if you and your mate are on PlayStation, befriend them on the PlayStation Network, and they will automatically appear in your Rematch friends list. The same is the case for Xbox.
How To Join Freeplay With Friends?
Even if you add your friends to the lobby, currently, the game doesn’t allow you to join freeplay sessions together. But you can simulate it by creating a custom game.
Here, you can have your personal lobby with your own rules. Go full 1 vs 1 against your friend and practice scoring, or stay in a team without opponents to hone passing and crossing skills together.
Creating Custom Matches
Creating your own game is pretty simple in Rematch. The game provides you with two choices: Create and Join With Code. If you choose Create, setting the number of players and spectators will be yours to decide.
Changing rules is also possible, and if the purpose of your game is solely practice, follow these settings:
- Set the Match Duration to 20
- Overtime Duration to infinite
- Crank down the score to reach
- Set the mercy rule goal difference to 0
Now, you can have a full, uninterrupted training session to yourself.
Inviting Friends To Your Custom Match
With everything finalized, hit Create Game situated in the bottom right of your screen. The game will provide you with a unique 6-digit code after the creation of the lobby. Simply share this code with your mates so they can use it in the Join With Code section and enter your game instantly.
