How to help in the Canberra region on National Tree Day

National Tree Day is on Sunday and there are some events in Canberra where you can lend a helping hand.

The day, organised by Planet Ark, has over the last 25 years seen more than 26 million native trees, shrubs and grasses have been planted by National Tree Day volunteers.

In Canberra, the events are at :

Urambi Hills Nature Reserve

Urambi Hills Park Carer group volunteering to preserve vegetation, remove invasive species. On Sunday between 9am and noon. Meet at 1 Meredith Circuit, Kambah

Jerrabomberra Creek Planting

Continuation of 15-year planting effort in the area by Queanbeyan Landcare. On Sunday from 9am to noon. Meet at 75 Swan Drive, Googong.

Residents can register to help at the events by visiting treeday.planetark.org.

Schools Tree Day is on Friday, with Kaleen Primary School aiming to achieve carbon neutrality through its tree planting.
