How to go behind the scenes at Edinburgh crematorium and other unique buildings

For a limited time only the public can get a look behind the scenes at some of Edinburgh's most fascinating buildings.

Not even lockdown has stopped Edinburgh Doors Open Day 2020 going ahead this weekend.

The annual event, which is now in its 30th year, has gone online for this first time due to the pandemic restrictions - meaning you don't even have to leave your home.

From John Knox House to Lauriston Castle, The Anatomical Museum and even Mortonhall Crematorium, there's a huge list that locals can virtually explore.

As well as online tours, many venues are also offering interesting talks and exhibitions, which can all be accessed here, as you get a look inside the city's hidden gems.

To receive one WhatsApp message a day with Edinburgh Live's headlines, as well as breaking news alerts, text NEWS to 07899067815. Then add the number to your contacts as 'Edinburgh Live'.

And it's not only Edinburgh, you can check out sites across Scotland, including in the Lothians and Fife - or much further afield.

But today is your last chance as the event only runs from 26-27 September.
