How To Get Two Free ‘Fortnite’ Avengers Pickaxes That Are Actually Awesome

Fortnite seems to have no more loyal partners than both Marvel and DC, and we have seen a ton of different crossovers based on various movies, or really, for no reason at all, like this season co-starring Aquaman as a battle pass skin.

Well, we are back to Marvel with a pretty cool promotion for the upcoming Avengers video game, which debuts in September but has a bunch of betas starting up in August.

You are able to get the above two Fortnite pickaxes, Hulk Hands and Hulkbuster Hands, by completing the beta on any platform. Technically it’s just one pickaxe with one alternate skin, but it might as well be two. I also can’t remember Fortnite having any “Gauntlet” style pickaxes yet, unless I missed them, as we only recently evolved to dual swords/axes/knives. But we have seen at least one another unique one in the form of Captain America’s shield, rather recently.

So, how to “complete” the beta? First, figure out which one you’re going to play. Here are the dates:

  • August 7-9: PS4 Closed Beta for those who have preordered the game on PS4.
  • August 14-16: PS4 Open Beta for anyone, and Xbox/PC Closed Beta for those who preordered it.
  • August 21-23: Open Beta for PS4 or Xbox or PC.

In a recent stream we saw the content in the game that you’ll be able to play in the beta so you can claim the Avengers pickaxes, and there are three HARM challenges to get through. You will somehow need to link your Epic Account with a Square Enix account (that’s who is publishing Avengers, which is developed by Tomb Raider’s Crystal Dynamics) and once it figures out you’ve beaten the beta, the Hulk Hands will be yours.

I have…medium expectations for the Avengers game. It made a less than promising debut when it was first shown off, and yet everything else I’ve seen or heard about the game since then has been a bit more encouraging, and I am definitely excited to find out that it will be a loot-based game, which is my bread and butter, certainly. And now with Destiny 2’s Beyond Light expansion delayed until November, Avengers should be one of the biggest releases of September, provided it too doesn’t face a last minute delay. But hopefully not.

So yeah, you can start claiming these in a week for free. If you miss them, Epic says they will be sold in the store later.
