How to get to the world's biggest Primark in Birmingham from Bristol

Bargain-hunters are flocking to Birmingham following the launch of the world's biggest Primark store.

The site, which opened on April 11, has 160,100 sq ft of retail space and five floors of fashion.

It also features a Disney-themed cafe among other food outlets.

The store is called Primark Birmingham High Street, but has been unofficially known as Primark Pavilions because it takes over the entire site of what was once Birmingham's Pavilions shopping centre.

So if you fancy a road trip to visit the megastore, here is a guide on how to find the Primark, as first reported by Birmingham Live.

It's around 90 miles from Bristol so you could be there in a couple of hours and there are a few different ways to get there.

By car

If heading towards Birmingham from Bristol, it's best to get on the M5, before taking the A456 exit to Birmingham (W & C).

You can then use the A456 to get on the A38, which has signs for Birmingham city centre and parking.

Your final destination, after parking, will be Primark in High Street, Birmingham.

By train

Arriving at Birmingham New Street station, aim for the exit on the same level that takes you out to the tram stop in Stephenson Street, rather than going down the big steps into Hill Street. (If you go up the escalators from the station concourse, you'll be in Grand Central shopping centre and will need to take an exit from there to New Street).

From Stephenson Street, go straight up into Lower Temple Street, turn right by the Tesco store into New Street and carry on along there until you are right by the Bullring centre and the bull sculpture. Turn left into High Street and the Primark is just along there on the right.

To make it even easier, set High Street as your destination in the sat-nav/map app on your mobile phone.

If your train gets into Snow Hill, that is also in the city centre. Just be sure to head from there to High Street, it's not very far.

By coach

Lidl is launching a huge baby and toddler sale on Easter Monday

From there it's a 10 to 15 minute walk up into High Street. If that seems too far for you to manage, you may prefer to take a 5-minute ride in a taxi instead.

Official Travel Advice

Transport for West Midlands is encouraging shoppers to use buses and trains because of the number of people expected to head into Birmingham on Thursday and over the weekend.

Not only is it the opening of the new Primark, but there are other events going on in the city too.

It has issued official advice for people coming into the city in a move to avoid travel chaos.
