Hollow Knight Silksong isn't an easy game by any means, but if you've been having a rough time, there's a simple solution. A user-made easy mode mod.
It's important to note that, as of writing on Sept. 9, there is no literal "easy mode" mod. However, users have been creating mods that provide gameplay changes to make the game easier. Thankfully, my pursuit of finding that one complete mod seems to have borne fruit.
How to use the easy mod in Hollow Knight Silksong?
Titled Relaxed Mode, this interesting mod will make your life easier in Hollow Knight Silksong. Unlike the more popular mods on Nexus Mods, this one tries to impact different gameplay features simultaneously.
Here's a rundown of the key features of the mod.
- Every damage source deals one mask of damage
- 2 times Rosary Beads
- 2 times Shards
- Healing only costs a percentage of Silk based on the missing health
- No Silk consumption during heal attempts with full health
- Swift Step (sprint) no longer consumes Silk
- Clawline (harpoon) no longer consumes Silk
- Regular enemies have a health bar above them
- Bosses show a health bar at the bottom of the screen
- The Compass and the Magnet work automatically (you'll have to purchase them first)
- The Quill updates the map without having to rest at a bench
- No timers for delivery quests
- Increased iframes after receiving damage to 700ms (prevents double environmental damage)
- The Maggot effect no longer consumes silk over time, instead, it requires a full spool to remove (without heal)
- Skip game startup screens

Having already tested the mod, I believe this is closest to what a potential easy mode for Hollow Knight Silksong would look like. The game's fundamental qualities are still intact, but not as harsh. I have added a few more mods below to make the game easier.
How to use the easy mode mod in Hollow Knight Silksong?
You'll need to download the mod files and BepInEx, which operates as the mod manager, to run the mod.
- Download the required files for BepInEx.
- Extract all the files into the game's folder.
- Start and exit the game. This will create a plugins folder in the game's file directory under the BepInEx sub-folder.
- Place the .dll file from the mod in the Plugins folder, and run the game.
If you want to disable the mod, delete the .dll file.
