Shiny Pearls don’t spawn naturally around Bubbly Basin, and instead are obtained by giving Pokémon with the Scrub specialty Grubby Pearls to clean up. You can initiate this process by chatting with any Pokémon who has the Scrub ability when you have at least one Grubby Pearl in your inventory and selecting the “Scrub this for me, please!” dialogue option.

The first step in the process of obtaining Shiny Pearls is finding Grubby Pearls. They spawn on the ground naturally all around the Bubbly Basin region, so keep an eye out for them as you traverse around.

Once you’ve got some Grubby Pearls on hand, you need to find a Pokémon with the Scrub speciality. There are a solid number of friends you can find swimming around this area who are willing to help, including:

  • Shellder
  • Cloyster
  • Sharpedo
  • Alomomola
  • Primarina

Generally, it’s best to seek out Shellder or Sharpedo for this task, especially if you’re fairly early on in the storyline, as they’re two of the easiest ones to summon. To get either Pokémon to spawn, you’ll need to build their respective Bubbly Basin Habitats.

Shellder can spawn in either a basin tall grass and coral Habitat or a sandy digging spot Habitat. Sharpedo is a bit more specific, and only appears when the chimney rocks dig site Habitat has been constructed.

Regardless of which Pokémon you seek out for this task, you’ll have to wait a bit after giving them Grubby Pearls to clean. This process takes time, just like it does when giving other Pokémon any type of resource to process, so patience is key.

Eventually, though, you’ll be able to return and chat with them to claim some Shiny Pearls you can then use for other key projects. If you want to ensure you have easy access to this material as needed, consider working on getting Portal Pods to upgrade your storage system to a whole new level.
