Travel has been off the agenda for quite some time now due to the pandemic, worldwide travel halted to a standstill.

But now as we see travel opening back up, flights departing and new places to be explored it seems it could be the best time to get paid to travel.

If you want to explore the world but you’re unsure how to fund it or would prefer to continue working as you travel rather than taking a gap year, there are multiple ways to make this come true.

Getting paid to travel has become a new way of life as well as a new source of i ncome all whilst exploring new places and cultures.

Here are just some of the ways you can travel the world whilst still being paid.

Cabin Crew

If you enjoy flying and want to explore the world starting a career as a cabin crew could be the perfect option.

Not only do you get to fly on both national and international flights, or depending on the company you work for, but you also get to explore the world.

You will be working during the flight but when you arrive in the new place, chances are you’ll have some downtime to explore and maybe a few free nights somewhere too before heading back.

Teach English

There are many destinations, including Europe, Asia, and the Middle East that need English teachers.

Not only do you secure a permeant job with a steady income but you also get to explore the new place you’re working in.

And the even better news is that most do not require you to speak their native language, the English language is more than sufficient for the job.

What the pandemic has brought into work life is the new flexibility of working remotely. A lot of offices have stayed working from home for those jobs based online and on computers.

This has opened up doors for people to take their work and move it anywhere they wish, as long as the job is still doable from that location.

All you need is a laptop and internet to get going, either working for a company that has the flexibility to work remotely or becoming a freelancer in a specific field such as a writer or digital marketer.

Cruise ships

If you prefer to catch a boat then catch a flight this may be the ideal job, cruise ships offer hundreds of different jobs.

From taking guests on excursions in a new destination, working in the bar or restaurant, performing in a theatre show, or looking after children in the daycare.

There is a job to suit anyone aboard a cruise ship, allowing you to visit new places along with your own accommodation on board.

Farming

It may not sound like the most glamorous job but hundreds of places across the world are looking for people to farm in exchange for accommodation and home-cooked meals.

This not only saves you money but allows you to really explore the area you’re working in whilst staying in comfortable accommodation.

It may not be a long-term job fix, but it's certainly a great temporary one with the opportunity to meet new people who also work on the farm and to enjoy a different culture too.

Au pair

Becoming an au pair is a great career choice if you are looking for something in childcare. You will be a nanny who lives with the period for set periods at a time.

All expenses will be paid for including, travel, accommodation, food, and even pocket money.

Often families prefer the au pair to speak English so there is the added bonus of not needing to learn a new language before heading out.

Travel blogging

It can be hard to earn money to begin with, but travel blogging is great for those who want to write and travel (Premier Inn)

This can be a tough career to get started, a true passion and love for travel and writing are needed to make a living that allows you to continue travelling.

Building up social media content and followings, building your own website, frequently writing, travelling to new places, and photographing are just some of the aspects of becoming a travel blogger.

It’s hard work but if you’re committed and keep working hard at it, it's sure to pay off with some fantastic rewards.

Social media influencer

This can be another tough path to take but if you can and be successful the benefits and access to travel are unstoppable.

Instagram is a huge platform with thousands of influences showcasing their life or travel adventures, building their followers and engagement.

Influencers can earn per Instagram post or can be paid through sponsorships via the social media platform, giving them the ability to work from anywhere and travel to share with their followers.

Tour guide

If you enjoy talking to people and exploring becoming a tour guide is a great way to combine the two.

Not only will you meet people from all over the world, but you will also get to share with them the culture of the destination you are currently working in.

Once you’ve secured some tour guide experience there’s no reason why you can’t take this further, travel to a new destination to do similar or start your own travel tours.

Work on a yacht

Another option for anyone who is a fan of water is to work on a yacht or sailing boat. Many people look for staff to stay on board the boat to help with cooking, cleaning and general maintenance of the boat.

Downtime will be awarded with the option to go and visit the mainland to explore on your days off or even just enjoy being in the sea rather than above it.

Working on a yacht has a smaller team but is a varied job and allows for a steady income with huge perks.
