If you’re a Diamond Dynasty player in MLB The Show 25, you know that John Donaldson has been dominant on the mound for the past couple of years. The lefty has both the velocity and the devastating pitch mix to baffle the best lineups. If you want him in this year’s game, it’ll take a little more than you had to do in MLB The Show 24.
Who Is John Donaldson?

John Donaldson was a pitcher and outfielder in the Negro Leagues. His inclusion in MLB The Show has been part of the game’s celebration of the Negro Leagues’ history over the past iterations of the game. Donaldson has five pitches, with the fastball, sinker, and forkball keeping hitters guessing constantly in online play. If you can master those as a hitter, you still have to deal with the slurve and slider. Donaldson’s card is a 90 overall, which is a definite step down from last year’s dominant version.
It’s very likely that we’ll get another high-end version of John Donaldson as MLB The Show 25 approaches its endgame. Until then, this card is still pretty great. To get it, you’ll need to complete a collection by doing a few different things.
How To Get Josh Donaldson In MLB The Show 25

It takes 20 of the 24 Negro Leagues cards to get the John Donaldson reward. Start in Storylines from the main menu and complete the Negro Leagues storylines. They can be tedious, but you’ll earn many players to apply to the collection. You can’t get John Donaldson without completing some of the Storylines. There are seven episodes to complete, with an eighth card available as a bonus once you’ve completed the James Bell, Wilbur Rogan, and Norman Stearnes storylines.
A quick way to earn some cards for the collection is to complete the Jackie Robinson Day showdown inside Diamond Dynasty. It’s not a requirement to get Donaldson, but you’ll get a couple of good cards along the way. For each time you complete the showdown, you get a Negro Leagues choice pack.
Finally, complete the Jackie Robinson Day program. You’ll earn five Negro Leagues cards to apply to the collection, including an 89 overall Jackie Robinson. Once you’ve done all of those things, you’ll likely have enough Negro League cards to complete the collection and earn John Donaldson.
