How to get involved in Cardiff's 24 hour photography experiment

A 24 hour photography experiment aiming to capture the life and times of people in Cardiff will be taking place this weekend.

Street photographer Mark Waugh is calling on amateur photographers and smartphone snappers to grab their cameras and document the city.

Thousands of images from the social experiment - called A Day In The Life – will then be turned into a giant piece of art by local artist Nathan Wyburn .

The project has been inspired by the blog Humans of New York, which has 7.9 million Instagram followers and 18 million Facebook followers.

Award winning press photographer Mark will also be hosting a free photography workshop in central Cardiff as well.

Mark said: "Anyone and everyone is more than welcome, whether you want to bring your phone along and take a few snaps or bring a high resolution camera to capture the city and the people.

"Each image paints it's own picture and tells its own story and all will be commemorated into a unique finalised piece of art to remember on the day."

Nathan, who reached the semi-finals of Britain's got talent in 2011 , has previously created photo collages for the likes of Catherine Zeta Jones and Spice Girl Mel B.

Who the Welsh artwork be based on is still a mystery - and suggestions from the public will be taken to account.

Nathan added: "Personally I would love it to be Gareth Thomas. He's a great role model and I am proud to call him my friend. He's done so much for the LGBT community and has educated so many."

This will be the sixth edition of the campaign, which has previously visited Newcastle, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, and Liverpool.

More information about the event, which takes place on Saturday, September 28,  is available on the A Day In The Life website .
