How to get home from Parklife 2019 by shuttle, bus, tram, taxi and on foot

We know that the last thing you want to be thinking about now is how to get home from Parklife before the fun has even begun - but as the saying goes, fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

And by fail we mean getting lost on the way out or not quite arranging that lift home.

The city's massive music event will take place on Saturday June 8 and Sunday June 9 all from its regular home of Heaton Park.

The festival has faced a bit of a reshuffle this week after one of its headliners, American rapper Cardi B, had to pull out to recover from a boob job.

But there are still some pretty big names on the bill - including George Ezra, The Streets, Blossoms, Mark Ronson and Christine and the Queens -  to keep around 80,000 festival-goers happy.

Back to travel, here's some of the best ways you can get home from a fun weekend.

Parklife Shuttle

The Parklife Shuttle - sounds a bit like a new dance move, right? - is available to those who have planned in advance and bought a travel pass which allows revellers to have their transport sorted, either by the shuttle or Metrolink services.

The bus provides a regular service between the city centre and festival site between 9.30am and 5pm on the Saturday and 10.30am and 5pm on the Sunday.

It begins in the City Centre from Aytoun Street (M1 2DD – corner of Minshull St. near Piccadilly train station) and drops off right inside the festival site.

The return service from Heaton Park to the City Centre starts at 6.30pm and runs until late.

Metrolink

To get to Heaton Park via the tram you need to get on board the service towards Bury and get off at the park's stop.

To get back to the city centre after 6pm you'll need to go to the Bowker Vale stop as the Heaton Park Metrolink station will be closed from 6pm across the weekend.

All you need to do is follow the signposts conveniently located by all customer exits.

Walking and cycling

If an overcrowded bus or tram isn't what you fancy, stretch those legs and walk or cycle back into the city centre.

Starting off at Sheepfoot Lane, you can either follow signs straight down Bury Old Road (west of Heaton Park) or Middleton Road (east of Heaton Park), where you will eventually join Bury Old Road. Follow the signs along Cheetham Hill Road, where you will eventually see Manchester city centre on the horizon.

Taxi

There will be a Manchester Hackney Carriage Taxi Rank located in Blackley New Road and a Bury Hackney Carriage Taxi Rank outside the Woodthorpe pub on Bury Old Road.

If you're planning on organising your own beforehand, there will also be an official private hire pick up point near the car park on Sheepfoot Lane and Parklife advises that if booking your own private hire vehicles, they may need to be directed to the pick up point at Heaton Park Sainsbury’s.
