It’s been a long time coming, but HBO Max is finally available in the UK. Launching alongside the premiere of the nail-biting medical drama The Pitt, there’s more than one way to sign up to the new streaming service.
You can sign up for the streamer directly through HBO Max, or get it bundled with Sky’s new £24 per month Sky Ultimate TV package, which comes bundled with Disney+, Netflix and Hayu. However for anyone with an existing Amazon Prime subscription, there’s an even simpler way of signing up.
If you’re a regular Amazon Prime Video watcher, this is easily the most convenient way to get HBO Max, keeping everything in one place, with one login and a single monthly bill. Here’s how to get it.

How to get HBO Max on Amazon Prime Video in the UK
To subscribe to HBO Max through Amazon Prime Video, you’ll need an active Amazon Prime membership.
From there, you’ll need to add HBO Max as an Amazon Prime Video Channel and choose a subscription tier.
The £4.99 basic with ads plan gives you access to most of the HBO Max catalogue, but includes ad breaks and doesn’t include newer films arriving straight after they’ve been out in the cinema.
The £5.99 standard with ads tier adds those newer releases and includes up to 30 downloads for offline viewing, but still includes ads. If you want to watch without interruptions, the £9.99 Standard plan removes ads entirely, while keeping downloads and the full catalogue.
Is it worth getting HBO Max through Amazon Prime Video?
If you already watch most of your content through Prime Video and like having all your streaming services in one place, then it’s a no-brainer really.
It keeps HBO Max within Prime Video’s familiar interface, meaning shows like Game of Thrones, Succession, The White Lotus, The Pitt and Euphoria sit alongside Prime Video hits including The Boys, Reacher, Fallout and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, without you having to swap between apps.
It also rolls everything into a single bill, so if you pay for Amazon Prime monthly, your HBO Max subscription will be charged there too.
That said, you won’t get a cheaper deal by going through Amazon – pricing is exactly the same as signing up directly.
Ultimately, it comes down to how you watch. If you want everything in one place over a dedicated app purely for HBO shows, then Prime Video will give you the simplest experience.
