Grounded 2 expands on the 2022 creepy-crawly survival hit with new features and resources, but you’ll also run into plenty of familiar things—like the Grass Seed. If you’re wondering where to find it, this guide is for you.
While exploring the ever-dangerous, insect-packed Brookhollow Park, you’ll encounter a wide variety of forageable items. Most of these serve multiple purposes, but a few seem to have only limited uses. Grass Seeds fall into the latter category, at least based on what we know so far. That said, their role in crafting the Omni Shovel is undeniably important.
Here’s where to look for Grass Seeds in Grounded 2.
Where to find Grass Seeds in Grounded 2
You can find Grass Seeds in every Grounded 2 biome where Grass spawns, but here’s the catch: you need to look for the right kind of Grass. Grass Seeds don’t drop from ordinary Grass stalks. Instead, you’ll need to chop down Grass Flowers.

Grass Flowers are easy to spot: Just look for white blossoms blooming at the top of the stalk.

As for the seeds themselves, they resemble Wheat but appear much larger due to your shrunken perspective.

Keep in mind, not every Grass Flower will drop Grass Seeds, so don’t give up—keep chopping until you’ve gathered what you need.
Grass Seeds uses in Grounded 2
In Grounded 1, Grass Seeds had only one purpose: planting them would grow a Grass Flower stalk. In Grounded 2, however, they’ve gained an additional use—you’ll need one to unlock the shovel function of your Omni Tool.
But that’s about it. As of now, you can’t analyze Grass Seeds at the Resource Analyzer, and they aren’t required for any blueprints or recipes beyond the Omni Tool. But Grounded 2 is still in early access, so the developer may add more Grass Seed uses with time. You can still plant them to grow a Grass stalk, but let’s be honest—you’d probably rather use that space to grow something edible.
