Much like Destiny 2, Exotic weapons are the rarest and most potent weapons in Destiny: Rising. The game gives you an Exotic during the main storyline, but that won’t be enough to outfit all your characters, especially since each one of them uses specific weapon types.
Here’s how to get new Exotic weapons in Destiny: Rising, featuring a list of all Exotics in the game and where they drop.
How to get Exotic weapons in Destiny Rising
Farm activities

The most straightforward way to farm Exotics is by playing dedicated activities. In the Adventures menu, filter the activities to show those that drop weapons. These include Strikes, Gauntlet: Blitz, Gauntlet: Onslaught, and more. Completing an activity has a set chance to drop an Exotic as a base reward, but you can increase it by using Pinnacle Energy when collecting rewards. Shifting Gates mode can also drop Exotic weapons depending on your performance in a match. The higher the research level, the better the rewards.
Each activity has a dedicated pool of Exotic weapons. If you’re looking to get a specific drop, farm the right activity.
Craft Exotic Engrams

Much like with Mythic Engrams, you can craft Exotic Weapon Engrams in your inventory. These Engrams can drop a random weapon from a set pool or allow you to choose a weapon. To craft an Exotic Engram, you need at least 30 Exotic Weapon Parameters (depending on the Engram).
Here are all the ways to get Exotic Weapon Parameters in Destiny: Rising:
- Weekly Progress track for completing Bounties.
- Legendary campaign first attempt rewards.
- Dismantle unneeded Exotic weapons.
Complete events

Events offer plenty of rewards for you to earn, including free pulls and Exotics. Always check the Events menu in the game to see what’s currently going on.
One of the early events allows you to choose two Exotic weapons among Borealis, Crimson, and Huckleberry when you log in for two consecutive weeks. It’s a considerable Power boost to characters who use those weapons that requires minimal effort on your end.
Some events are limited-time, and Exotics from those events will likely join the rest of the weapons in their respective activities in case you missed them.
