How to get cheap Amazon Prime Video in time for the Premier League games

Amazon have today made a gigantic statement in the battle to own the biggest audience share of the online video streaming market.

After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that BT and Sky Sports stronghold over broadcasting live Premier League games over.

It had previously been rumoured both Twitter and Facebook were interested in the remaining TV packages but Amazon, intrigued by the game's growing popularity over in the States, have secured the deal.

The package purchased by Amazon consists of all 20 matches from one Bank Holiday and one midweek fixture programme.

As well as the buzz that the Premier League is creating in the States, Amazon are also keen on pushing subscription numbers for it's Prime Video service .

How much does Amazon Prime Video cost?

Prime Video has been in existence in one form or another now since 2006. Its current incarnation is accessible through most Smart TV's, phones, tablets and games consoles and costs £7.99 a month.

However, the cheapest way to buy Amazon Prime Video is by paying for a year up front. It costs £79 to do this here, effectively giving you two months free.

The only other option is for students, who can access Amazon Prime Video for just £39 per year and they can use a six month free trial before committing to the deal.

Non-students can use Amazon's 30-day free trial to see if the service works for them.

What do you get for your money?

Alongside its exclusive content - including shows like The Grand Tour and Lucifer - you can also buy or rent brand new movies ready to view immediately.

They first began pursuing streaming rights on sporting events in the USA 2016 where they now currently stream Thursday night NFL games.

Last month, Amazon also brought their latest strategy over to this side of the Atlantic by purchasing UK TV exclusivity for the US Open.

This latest venture into the smaller Premier League TV packages will most likely be seen as a trial run before the prospect of them infiltrating the market further by the time the next round of deals comes around.
