How to get and use Deathmarks in Destiny 2

Lawless Frontier activity brought back the Invasion to Destiny 2. While you may not be a fan of PvP, Invasions are a great and quick way to earn additional rewards, including some of the new blasters, as long as you have a few Deathmarks.

Here’s everything you need to know about Deathmarks in Destiny 2, how to get them, and put them to use.

How to get Deathmarks in Destiny 2

By the time you finish the Renegades campaign, you may already have a few Deathmarks to play with. To get more Deathmarks, you need to spend some time in the Lawless Frontier, whether doing regular jobs or invading.

Here’s every way to get Deathmarks in Destiny 2:

• Weekly reward from Spider
• Lawless Frontier missions
• Invasion contracts
• Invasion completions and kills

The main way of getting Deathmarks in Destiny 2 is to play Lawless Frontier missions. Any mission has a chance to drop a Deathmark as a completion reward, but invadable jobs in the contested territory seem to have a higher chance.

You can also get Deathmarks when invading. Kill Guardians and successfully complete Invasions for a chance to get Deathmarks, allowing you to snowball the PvP side of Lawless Frontier.

How to use Deathmarks in Destiny 2

You consume Deathmarks when you launch an Invasion. One Invasion costs one Deathmark and usually rewards one drop, but you can wager up to three Deathmarks to increase your rewards in case of a successful Invasion.

To wager additional Deathmarks:

1. On the Lawless Frontier holomap, open the menu on the left.
2. Navigate to the Wallet tab.
3. Hover over the Deathmark and hold the Wager button.

When you launch an Invasion, you can see how many Deathmarks you’re putting up in the bottom right of the screen. Regardless of whether you succeed or not, you lose all the Deathmarks. All that matters now is how well you do during an Invasion to get as many rewards as possible.

Once you wager additional Deathmarks, they cannot be removed. After you play an Invasion, the required Deathmarks reset back to one.

If you don’t want to play Invasion, you can trade the Deathmarks for Dark Matter Ingots at the Spider in Tharsis Outpost. However, Spider offers only one Dark Matter Ingot per two Deathmarks, so even a failed invasion will likely net more rewards.
