How to Get Gappy in Anime Rangers X
There are two ways to get Gappy in Anime Rangers X: completing Ascension Event stages and opening Ascension Capsules. In Ascension Event stages, you have to defeat a 400B HP version of Vampire Emperor. The boss has very low damage, so the chances are that none of your units will ever get defeated in this event stage.
The chance of obtaining Gappy from these stages varies depending on your clear time. For clear times under 100s, the Gappy's drop chance is ~0.65%, and it goes down 0.05% for clear times of over 400s. To increase his drop rate, equip the Soul of Greed (25% increased base drop chance) on one of your units, and optionally equip the Priest of Heaven (Ascended) (100% increased base drop chance).
A potentially easier way to obtain Gappy is to open Ascension Capsules (1% drop chance). Depending on your luck, you might have to open only a few dozen of them before you get the new Beyond-rarity unit. You can get Ascension Capsules by clearing Ascension Event stages (1-6 per stage) and by completing the Wall of Infinite Eyes Ranger Stage (0.1% drop chance).

When you evolve Gappy, he becomes the best DPS unit in Anime Rangers X. His base stats are comparable to those of other meta DPS units, like Gilgamesh, Shadow Monarch, and Crimson Owl. Still, Gappy's passives are what make him stand out from the rest, as they allow him to keep stacking damage infinitely. Here is a list of them and their effects:

Passive 1 — GO BEYOND!: This unit starts at stage 1. Stages persist after death once unlocked, and each new Stage retains buffs from previous stages.

Beyond Stage 1: Alternate between applying Chained and Explosion on every hit. Each time both are applied, there is a 5% chance to advance to Stage 2.
- Chained: Stuns enemies in range for 15s and slows them by 80%.
- Explosion: Next attack deals +150% Damage.

- Passive 2 — I am Two, not One: After attacking, this unit may continue attacking with decreasing probability: each follow-up attack has a 100% chance to repeat, reduced by 5% with each successive strike. Each time an attack misses, reduce Attack Cooldown and Ability Cooldown by 9%.
- Passive 3 — Plunder Bubble: Every 10 Abilities, summon an enemy copy with the same stats as the last defeated enemy. For every summon on the field, increase summon damage by +55.5%.
- Passive 4 — Soft and Wet: 33% Range Increase on all Plunder Bubbles.
- Passive 5 — I See All: For every +2 Range above 50, increase Damage by +0.5% and Summon HP by +0.5% (no cap).
Recommended Gappy Build
Just like other meta DPS units, you should focus on maximizing Gappy's ability damage in order to optimize his DPS. The best curse combo for Gappy is -15% Ability Cooldown and +15% Damage. As for the gears, go with Hair Curls, Black Coat, Purple Boots/Black Shoes, and Aetherial Lance/Funny Revolver. Depending on how low Gappy's Ability Cooldown already is, you can use either the Soul of Agony or the Soul of Cyclops to round out the build.
